Whistler Pro 78se 35.5Ka 7/31/2009 (Over 3 miles)

My first confirmed 35.5 Ka band police radar detection. Pro 78se alerted 35.5Ka as soon as I made a right turn coming off a freeway ramp. Took me a few seconds to power up the camera and start recording. I was starting to get pissed after about 1 to 2 miles in to the video because I couldn't figure out where the radar was coming from. I kept thinking that the radar source must be one of the cars some distance ahead of me and I just couldn't catch up to it. Well, I was wrong and totally surprised. I got to the 2 patrol cars just in time to see them leave. I did follow one of them for a while, but the memory card in the camera was filled up and stopped recording not long after I started following. The one I followed left his radar on and I would let him get so far ahead of me where I can barely make out his tail lights and the Pro 78se would keep a constant Ka2-3 signal strength. Not bad since it appears that he only has the front facing radar on. It was the very first time I've even seen a legit 35.5Ka band alert. Detection range was 3+ miles. Kind of shocking to me, since I'm used to seeing 1 to 2 miles on UHP's 34.7Ka band radar. The terrain here on the surface street is more level and straight than the terrain seen in the videos of those UHP 34.7Ka on I-15 I posted before. I was pretty excited that I got over 3 miles of 35.5Ka radar detection, but the truth is that I didn't care for that much warning in this situation.

Moment of Japan convulsion bent on cameras triggering 10m tsunami

Follow latest updates at twitter.com and www.facebook.com North-east Japan has been swamped by a major tsunami - and the entire Pacific region is now on alert. It was caused by an 8.9-magnitude earthquake that struck 130 kilometres off the eastern coast - sending a reported 10-metre wall of water inland, causing widespread devastation. 32 people are confirmed dead - but that number's expected to rise. The wave has also reached Russia's Kuril islands to the north, reportedly around a metre high. In Japan, 200 people have reportedly been washed away, with several others missing in Japan's Sendai city. Tokyo's been all-but shut down - with fires and injuries widely reported there. Millions are without electricity. Norita International Airport is also closed. 20 powerful aftershocks have been recorded since the first quake, which was the strongest ever recorded in Japan - and the 6th biggest-ever. An earthquake has now been felt in Hawaii - measuring 4.5 - with tsunami waves expected within a few horus.
